Many propane tanks have safety features built into the gas regulator and piping that can be triggered by a leak in the tank. The most direct way to find a leak is to use a soap and water solution on the outside of the tank. The soap will foam at the leak site. If you find a leak, take it back to the place of purchase and ask for a replacement.
